- A Great Project Begins with a Firm Foundation
The Howell Buildings Company is a division of Howell Land Development LLC which was formed in ’2003. Howell Land Development currently owns a 40 acre industrial park located in St. Paris, Ohio.
- Experience Matters
The experience starts with Terry Howell and his affiliation in sales and marketing in the building business. A 1970 graduate of The Ohio State University was raised in Champaign County, near St. Paris. He was raised on a dairy farm, and currently owns with his wife a 740 acre grain farm in the area. In 1974 Terry started work with Butler Manufacturing representing the Ohio territory for Butler in sales and construction of grains storage bins and steel buildings. In 1985 thru 1991 he was a Regional Sales Manager working with contractors located in several territories in the 26 eastern states.
In 1991 Terry left Butler to enter into a partnership selling Lester post frame buildings (a Butler subsidiary). In 1993 he organized his own company called Howell Timber Structures, Inc. operating out of St. Paris, Ohio and converted his representation to Wick Building Systems of Mazomanie, Wisconsin. From 1991 until closing Howell Timber Structures in 1999, the company built 330 projects in a 12 county area surrounding Champaign County in west central Ohio. Howell Timber Structures was closed and replaced with Wick Building’s expansion into St. Paris, where they built a new plant and distribution center on State Route 235, purchasing the land from Terry and hiring him to manage their business from production and sales out of the new approximate 70,000 square foot facility on 15 acres. Terry supervised and coordinated all the planning and construction on that facility for Wick which was a $2.3 million dollar investment (photos in Business project section). After a ten year commitment and the 2009 caused Wick Buildings reorganization, Terry returned to his independent construction business.
- We Service a Variety of Industries
Howell Buildings Company has been affiliated with Chief Buildings since the mid 1990′s and has sold and installed a variety end uses of steel buildings which include airplane hangars, a bulk 42,000 square foot storage facility for BioGro in Dayton, and a 40,000 square foot vegetable and storage processing building for Michael Farms in 2009, and most recently a 25,000 square foot DuPont Pioneer Seed Research Center east of Urbana.
- A Growing Team of Seasoned Construction Veterans
In early 2010, Chris Frost, a 20 year industry veteran, and building consultant, joined the Howell Buildings team. Frost comes with over 300 building projects, numerous industry awards, and a professional management ability that enables his customers to save money, build on schedule, and provide the highest quality building possible. Starting with an 11 year military history, Frost learned values of honor, honesty, dedication to mission, and constant self improvement that motivate him to provide the best service possible. After leaving the military, Frost graduated from a local college and began work in estimating, design, management and procurement of construction projects in the post frame industry.
Since then Chris Frost has managed a regional contracting office which built fire stations for local governments, commercial, turn-key, equestrian, residential and agricultural projects and helped develop a regional, retail construction center. A resident of Clark County, Ohio for 40 years, Frost states, ‘I look forward to providing an alternative to ‘out of state’ owned construction companies that offer only one product, and believe that our experience, local presence, and multiple product lines, will increase the level of service and satisfaction we provide our customers.
- A Construction Firm With Options
Howell Buildings Company represents two major building product lines including Chief Buildings steel frame and has chosen to reunite with Lester Buildings for post frame and conventional structures. We are exploring the development of structural insulated panel (SIPs) for energy conservation. We focus on energy conservation and functional design.
We are excited to represent both Chief and Lesters in our west central Ohio service area, and firmly believe they both represent the best value and professional approach to enhance our marketing efforts and your buildings functionality.
- We Work Hard To Communicate
We work ‘hand in glove’ with customers and prospective customers, partnering and forming a team with our customers to provide their needs while trying our best to meet their budget and schedules. Construction is not painless, circumstances and unexpected events occur, it is important to partner with people you trust! We pledge to communicate both the good and sometimes disappointing news as projects develop. Most importantly we communicate and try to avoid all the surprises which sometimes happen in construction.
